01-08-2020: Michael Molitch-Hou joined 3DPrint.com
Molitch-Hou is one of the best AM writers in this industry.
On January 8, 2020, 3DPrint.com officially announced that Michael Molitch-Hou, one of the longest-serving journalists in the AM industry, joined their editorial team as a senior analyst (as well as the SmarTech Analysis team). Why is this such a significant event worthy of a dedicated historical article? Because, my friends, Michael Molitch-Hou is, in my opinion, the best AM writer in this industry. He is the author of numerous important and groundbreaking stories and, on a personal level, someone who has twice helped me establish myself in the global AM industry.
Michael's career in AM began in 2012 when he joined the newly launched 3D Printing Industry (a portal deserving of its own article in the near future). There, alongside a roster of notable names like Rachel Park, Davide Sher, and Tyler Koslow, he helped make the platform the most important medium in the still-young and emerging AM industry.
Unfortunately, after the site was sold between late 2015 and early 2016 and relocated to the UK, where it underwent something of a resurrection, Michael, along with most of the original team, left. He then joined Engineering.com as Managing Editor. After nearly four years, in December 2019, he moved to 3DPrint.com, officially taking on the roles of analyst and editor starting in January 2020. Today, he serves as the platform's Editor-in-Chief. Since 2022, Michael has also been publishing articles in Forbes.
If I had to list Michael’s most significant achievements in AM journalism, I’d run out of space in this post. But allow me to highlight two articles that unquestionably define his legacy in the industry:
“Hype Hangover: The Rise and Fall of Avi Reichental”, published in November 2015 on 3D Printing Industry, and
“Poland’s 3D Printing Scene Was Built Upon a Huge Deal That Never Happened”, published in August 2016 on 3DPrint.com (about the unrealized deal for Zortrax to supply 5,000 3D printers to Dell).
Thank you (mic dropped).
In 2015, when I was already a well-known AM writer in Poland, I met Michael. He offered me the opportunity to collaborate with 3D Printing Industry, where I published 25 articles. For someone who had been operating in this industry locally for barely two years, it was a huge honor, and that put me on the world 3D printing map.
And once again, when I returned to writing in May 2024, Michael gave me another chance to reach a wider audience, resulting in several of my articles being published on 3DPrint.com. For that, I am deeply grateful!
You might ask: who’s the better writer, me or Michael?
Damn, there’s no room for interpretation here. Michael is the best of us all. He always has been.
