03-27-2017: Michał Sołowow – the richest man in Poland, took over 100% of the shares in 3DGence
Sołowow had been a shareholder in 3DGence since October 2015
On March 27, 2017, MSG (Michał Sołowow Group) announced the acquisition of 100% of the shares in 3DGence, a Polish company producing industrial-grade FFF 3D printers. Sołowow had been a shareholder in 3DGence since October 2015, but it was only in 2017 that he decided to take over the entire company by purchasing the shares of the original founders. The company initially focused on manufacturing high-end desktop 3D printers but later shifted towards industrial machines, which remains its primary focus today.
The 3DGence brand was founded in 2014 in Katowice, Poland, by Roman Foltyn, Patryk Kadlec, and Grzegorz Kowalczyk. The first 3D printer model, the desktop 3DGence One, featured exceptionally high-quality and costly components. It was one of the first 3D printers on the market to use auto-compensation for calibration and was likely the first ever to use porcelain stoneware as its build plate! The company quickly gained popularity but eventually decided to shift its focus from the desktop 3D printer sector to industrial 3D printers.
This strategic shift coincided with Michał Sołowow’s first investment in the company, which took place in 2015.
MSG (Michał Sołowow Group) is one of the largest capital groups in Central and Eastern Europe. It currently employs several thousand people and focuses on investments in technology companies. Some of its most well-known businesses include Synthos – a leading global rubber producer, Cersanit – a manufacturer of sanitary ceramics and ceramic tiles, and Barlinek – a producer of engineered wood flooring.
In the field of additive manufacturing, in addition to 3DGence, it owns New Era Materials, a company specializing in composite materials production. For many years, this company also provided 3D printing services, though this division was recently spun off into a separate entity called Fibometry.
As for 3DGence itself, the company has a branch in the USA (3DGence Americas) and continues to develop industrial 3D printers, with its latest large-format model, the Industry F1000, featuring a build volume of 1000 x 600 x 800 mm.
