On April 9, 2014, Creality was founded—a Chinese desktop 3D printing giant that has revolutionized the 3D printing industry. The company was created by a group of four 3D printing enthusiasts from Shenzhen: Jack Chen, George Lau, Liu Jin, and Allen Lee. At that time, the 3D printing market was dominated either by still relatively expensive 3D printers—which significantly limited their popularity—or by extremely low-quality, unreliable machines. Creality set out to change this, striving to strike the perfect balance between quality, affordability, and ease of use.
Two years after its founding, Creality released its first breakout model: the CR-10. This printer became a hit, offering a large build volume (300 x 300 x 400 mm) and a price point of around $500—truly groundbreaking at the time.
In 2018, Creality introduced the Ender-3—a printer that is still regarded as an icon in the world of 3D printing. Priced at just around $200, the Ender-3 offered print quality comparable to much more expensive machines. Its success lay in its ease of assembly, openness to modifications, and the support of a massive user community. The Ender-3 has sold millions of units and remains the go-to choice for beginners.
In the following years, Creality expanded its portfolio with upgraded models such as the Ender-3 Pro, Ender-3 V2, CR-6 SE, and the CR-30 (later renamed 3DPrintMill). The latter, unveiled in 2020 to mark the company’s 6th anniversary, featured a unique conveyor belt print bed, enabling the printing of objects with virtually unlimited length.
The company also offers resin 3D printers, laser engravers, and 3D scanners.
By 2023, on its 9th anniversary, Creality celebrated a presence in over 100 countries and a user base of over 3.5 million people. That same year, it introduced the K1 series, positioned as a response to Bambu Lab, signaling a new direction in its product strategy.
Currently, together with Bambu Lab, Creality accounts for approximately three-quarters of the global desktop 3D printer market—that is, devices priced under $5000.
