BLI secures $1.8 million in funding (and you'll be hearing much more on this in the near future)

Atomic Layer of the Day:
Biological Lattice Industries (BLI) has secured $1.8 million in funding. The startup is the creator of Loominus Studio, an innovative biofabrication software platform, and BioLoom, a multifunctional bioprinter. BLI's mission is to simplify and democratize biofabrication processes for R&D labs worldwide.
Loominus Studio offers integrated software that automates complex biofabrication workflows, enhancing their repeatability and precision, allowing labs to focus on innovation rather than technical challenges. BioLoom, on the other hand, is a multifunctional bioprinter equipped with environmental control features, maintaining high-quality production standards and GMP compliance, which is especially crucial for commercial laboratories.
Led by respected scientist Filippos Tourlomousis, BLI aims to set a new standard in biofabrication by overcoming the technological barriers that researchers globally face. The company plans to implement BioLoom and Loominus Studio in leading academic labs, making this technology more broadly available.
And I mention all this because… I'll soon write a lot more on the subject, with more details to follow. You might not know, but five years ago, I was developing my own bioprinter (SKAFFOSYS). Unfortunately, that project couldn’t continue (partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and financial downturn), but the knowledge and experience gained remain. So… I’ll be able to reveal more soon.
Atomic Layer from the Past:
10-25-2017: NPM Capital made a "significant investment" in Ultimaker, becoming its majority shareholder.
Atomic News & Gossips:
EOS teases its new polymer SLS 3D printer, leaving us all wondering if this could finally be the long-awaited LaserProFusion machine. If you’re not familiar with it, LaserProFusion was a concept introduced back in 2018 that involves sintering powdered polymers using a matrix of "a million diode lasers." Unofficially, I’ve heard that the machine has been fully developed and is operational, yet it’s still waiting for the “right business moment” for release. Could now be the time?
According to a Bloomberg report, Siemens AG is exploring the acquisition of the software company Altair Engineering…
It's not only BLI that secured funding for development. AM 4 AM received €1.3 million to expand its facilities and enhance its metal powder production for additive manufacturing.
