Atomic Layer of the Day:
Three days ago, Formlabs announced "the biggest products launch in its history," with the star of the event being the large-format Form 4L 3D printer (and its medical version, the 4BL). If we thought that 16 products launched at once was a lot, Formlabs had obviously other idea. "Hold my beer," the company said, as today it added to that significant price cuts on consumable materials.
SLA 3D printer resins are now offered at prices as low as $35 per liter, and SLS 3D printer powders are available for as low as $45 per kilogram.
In the case of resins, the company is challenging cheap, Chinese resins. Achieving this will be difficult, but as this price cut shows, it's not impossible. Users of Formlabs 3D printers will no longer have to overpay for material compared to those using printers like Anycubic or Phrozen. If there remains any difference in price, it will be minimal.
However, when it comes to SLS powders, companies like EOS and 3D Systems have a real challenge on their hands. The high prices of their materials have long been a burden for users, and such a significant price drop will only increase the pressure on them. Even now, the pressure is enormous. After this price reduction—I don't know... It will be tough for the sales departments of EOS and 3D Systems to reasonably respond to customer inquiries.

It’s an industrial 3D FFF system based on the IDEX system (Independent Dual Extrusion) and features a large build area of 600 x 500 x 800 mm. Impressive, but will this be enough to return to the forefront...?
