Slant 3D releases plugin for integrating Shopify with its 3D printer farm
With the plugin, users can directly order 3D prints for production at one of the largest 3D printing farms in the world
Slant 3D has created and made available a plugin for the Shopify e-commerce platform, providing any Shopify-based store with free access to its massive 3D printing farm. Previously, the company developed a similar plugin for the Etsy platform as well as an API interface for implementation on external websites, which also connect to Slant 3Dās 3D printing farm.
Slant 3D was founded in 2017 by Gabe Bentz in Boise, Idaho, USA. The company specializes in mass production of 3D-printed parts, offering solutions based on FFF 3D printing technology, utilizing its own 3D printer farm. In 2022, Slant 3D began building the largest 3D printing farm in the world. Located in a former train factory, it consists of over 800 automated 3D printers and is ultimately intended to house 2,000 - 3,000 devices.
The launch of the Shopify plugin will enable users and customers of online stores to create a free store via Shopify, showcase their products, and connect with Slant 3D for physical production.
Slant 3D claims that this solution can make the production and sale of products simpler than ever, especially since the company also handles international logistics. As Gabe Bentz says, the plugin āgives everyone access to production and order fulfillment at a price that was never possible before.ā
The plugin works by adding an app to the Shopify store, uploading a 3D model, and then, once the order is fulfilled, Slant 3D will print and ship the product directly to the customer, anywhere in the world. Users will be able to produce products made of PLA in various colors with a layer height of 0.2 mm and 25% infill.
