Atomic Layer of the Day:
Guys, I’m excited to introduce our new project – The 3D Printing World Guide. A series of publications aimed at supporting the most interesting—and not necessarily the most well-known—AM companies from around the world.
In February 2014, we launched the Company Database on our Polish portal, Centrum Druku 3D. It was the first such comprehensive and functional platform in the AM industry, which helped establish the Polish AM sector and grow the market. Apart of standard data, it featured sofisticated search engine, interactive map of Poland with locations, links to offers on Allegro (Poland’s equivalent of eBay/Amazon), archive of related articles, promoted listings displayed across the portal and more.
Our application was ahead of its time, and even today—in its 2014 form—it would still be highly competitive.
But to reassure our colleagues in other industry media, we’re not planning to replicate it. Instead, we’re doing something new once again—something no one in the AM industry has done before, at least not in this format.
We are starting The 3D Printing World Guide. A series of publications spotlighting the most interesting AM companies from specific countries or regions of the world.
Two phrases from that description need clarification:
"starting"
"most interesting".
We are “starting” because this will be an ongoing series, running throughout the year and continuing into subsequent years. Each week, we’ll release a guide to a specific country or region. The first edition will focus on Poland, our home country. Subsequent countries and regions will be announced in the following weeks.
The “most interesting” companies because we don’t want to profile only the usual suspects. As I mentioned in Monday’s newsletter, we want to give a voice to companies that haven’t been in the spotlight, haven’t been invited to podcasts, or aren’t the default names called to the stage. These companies often have fascinating stories to tell and unique perspectives to share. The 3D Printing World Guide will aim to discover new companies and new people.
How to Participate? First, don’t wait. Each edition will feature only 10 companies, so submission order will be key.
Companies can apply using a simple form here.
Once we receive your application, we’ll follow up with a request for more in-depth information.
We’ll then prepare three publications in three formats:
An article sent to subscribers of The 3D Printing Journal newsletter.
A free e-book available for download on the AM Writer website.
A free e-book available for download on LinkedIn.
Participation involves a symbolic, one-time fee of €50. Each edition will also have a main sponsor whose logo will appear on the covers of the publication and receive additional coverage.
I encourage everyone to get involved in the project and reach out to us. For any formal or organizational matters, feel free to contact Anna Ślusarczyk (as@colorised.org) who manages all aspects of the project.

News & Gossip:
Last week Forward AM closed its US office, and today announced that it partnered with RP America, which will distribute its products in North America. Undoubtedly, this is a significantly more cost-effective solution than maintaining an office and a team of managers across the ocean. Let’s hope it will be equally successful.
